Children

KidsZone takes place every Sunday as part of our Sunday Gatherings. Activities include: stories from the Bible in a fun, fast moving, creative manner; action songs; craft; and DVDs. Most of these activities we share with the mums and dads at the end of the session. The children stay with us for the first 20 minutes of worship and then go off to the group.

The material we use is produced especially for children of different age ranges. Kidzone is run by a team of leaders and helpers who are DBS checked. Our Child Protection Policy can be viewed on the safeguarding page There is a creche for pre-school children with all sorts of toys for them to play with during the morning.

Come and try us out - you won't be disappointed!

Summer Holiday Club 2020 - WonderZone

Our Lab explored some great scientific discoveries, finding out who God is and how exploring science and following him can go hand in hand. Our Professors, Researchers and Lab Technicians helped the Scientists (the children) as they carried out experiments, through which the Scientists discovered the wonders of the world (and beyond!) and how the God behind all of it wants to get to know them too.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak we had to take our annual Holiday Club online. Along with other churches in Bedford, Olney and Cambridge and working closely with Scripture Union, we were able to produce five 30 minute videos on our YouTube channel. These sessions were made available between Monday 10 August and Friday 28 August. Free Craft Packs were provided for the 50 children that signed up for the Holiday Club.

Easter & Christmas Crafts

During the year we run two craft days for children of Lower School age (Reception - Year 4), one at Easter and the other at the beginning of December in the run up to Christmas.

We usually have around 40 children attend each of these craft days. The days start at 10.00am and run on until 1.30pm. The day consist of a number of seasonal crafts, with the children moving between them as they chose. The day also includes DVDs, activity sheets, and good old fashioned party games. The children bring their own packed lunch with them, and we provide biscuits and drinks. They are held in the school hall at the Forest End site of Church End Lower School. These days also provide the opportunity for parents to enjoy some time to put their feet up or especially at Christmas to do some shopping.

Child Safeguarding As a church we take child safeguarding very seriously, believing it to be part of our duty to make sure our children are kept as safe as possible. All who work with children in the church have Disclosure Certificates, which are kept updated regularly, and attend training on safeguarding practice. We also have a full Safeguarding Policy and Procedures, which follow guidelines issued by the The Churches’ Child Protection Advisory Service - you can view a copy here. To find out more, please speak to our Designated Person for Safeguarding, Sherri Read or her deputy, Liz Edwards.
