Who's Who

We have been blessed by our sending church, Bromham Baptist, as they continue to pay the salary of our church leader, Steve Gaunt. It is our aim to be both constitutionally and financially independent from them within five years, and in order to help us do that we have set up a Vision Group who meet monthly with the aim of setting a five year vision to achieve this aim. The members of our Vision Group are: Steve & Jo-Ann Gaunt; Tony & Kath Harris; Kevin & Anita Hanwell; Amanda Thompson; and Andrew Senn, an Elder from Bromham Baptist Church.

Steve & Jo-Ann Gaunt Steve and Jo-Ann Gaunt have two adult children, Lizzie and Peter. They are both from Bedford and have been married for 29 years. Until six years ago Steve had spent most of his working life in the water industry, working for both Anglian and Three Valleys Water, which included a number of projects overseas. Steve felt the call along with Bromham Baptist Church (BBC) into paid full-time Christian ministry in October 2004 and worked as a Staff Elder of BBC. Jo-Ann has spent time as a nursery nurse and the last 10 years as a Christian School’s Worker for Impact Bedford School’s Support Trust. Jo-Ann’s work takes her into over 30 Lower and Middle Schools in the Bedford Area, taking assemblies, RE lessons, lunch and after school clubs. At a Special Church Member's Meeting in January 2008 the call of Steve and Jo-Ann to plant a church in Marston Moretaine was confirmed. And as they say, “The rest is history.”

Kevin & Anita Hanwell Kevin and Anita Hanwell are married with four grown up children and one grandson. They met and married in Cardiff in 1979.  Kevin is a self-employed Independent Financial Advisor. He also runs a second business which supports his passion for providing high quality sound and lighting for church and community events. Anita has a passion for overseas mission and enjoys travelling. She is an adult tutor, teaching English as a second language, and also works as a counsellor, counselling children and adults.

Amanda Thompson Amanda Thompson was married in 2002 and has two children aged seven and five. She is a primary teacher and has taught for 12 years in a local primary school. A Christian for eight years, she has come from a non-Christian family, giving her life to Christ at her brother-in-law's church in South Wales. She attended an Alpha course in Harlington which cemented her faith and went on to work through the 'Steps to Freedom in Christ' discipleship course. Amanda loves being a part of Vale Community Church because she feels truly valued and respected for who she is now and not who she has been in the past.
