Men Friday

Men Friday We firmly believe that it is God's desire for men and women to have good and trusty friends with whom they can spend quality time in any environment, whether it is just to get away from life's pressures by hanging out together, by either playing or watching sports, walking, etc.., sharing our hobbies, or simply to talk about life's concerns without feeling vulnerable. It's for this reason that we have committed ourselves to a programme of social and other events, to which men from all walks of life and persuasion, are encouraged to participate in, as a way of relieving the stresses and strains that so often accompany our otherwise chaotic day to day lives.  These events are designed not to overtly spiritual but to simply provide an opportunity for guys to take time out with other guys which we consider so important to gain a balanced lifestyle according to God's will.

To date we have run a number of events including: Curry Nights; Golf Mornings; and Ten Pin Bowling Evenings. Our last event was a Golfing Afternoon in October, held at the Wavendon Golf Centre near Milton Keynes. We had 16 guys turn up for coffee, half a bucket of balls on the driving range, a round on the 9 hole par3 course all followed by a superb bar meal. A good time was had by all with plenty of laughter, friendly banter and a little bit of a competitive edge. Lowest score of the afternoon went to Chris Simmonds with 34. A big thanks to Mike McKeegan for organising a great evening. We are planning four events for 2011 - so watch this space for further details!

On Saturday 16th July 12 of us started the morning with a cooked breakfast at Frost's Garden Centre, Willington. We then went on to spend the rest of the morning at
Stondon Motor Museum near Henlow. It was like taking a trip down Memory Lane, as we saw bygone vehicles from the beginning of the century right up to modern day classics. Most of us saw the first car we ever drove or owned. Most of the exhibits originate from the largest private collection in the country, plus more recent aquisitions by the museum, making a total of over 350 exhibits. See a short clip of the morning oppositie.
