SundayBrunch is a café which is open from 10.30am-12.00noon that provides opportunities to make new friends and explore the Christian faith in a relaxed and friendly setting. Each SundayBrunch is planned to be a fun and exciting experience for all the family.
SundayBrunch meets twice monthly on the first and third Sundays of each month at Church End Lower School in the village. We started meeting in October 2008 and during that time have seen a growth in the numbers coming along from 40 to 80 adults and children.
We have cereals, croissant, toast, fruit juices, bacon or sausage sandwiches and tea or coffee available. On the tables we have a menu that tells people what will happen during the morning and also a quiz based on our theme for the day. Sunday papers are available – which people are free to take them home with them. ‘KidsZone’ our children’s activities run from 11.10am. There are also family games available in the hall were we meet and an area is also set aside for pre-school children with all sorts of toys. ‘food4thought’ is at 11.30am when we close the kitchen for a short while. Drinks only are then served from 11.40am until we close at 12.00noon.
It’s been great to see SundayBrunch grow from it's beginnings. We are seeing people bringing their family and friends along - even boyfriends! Those that come along tell us that having a chat over breakfast, being able to read the Sunday newspapers, participating through the regular quizzes or hosting the morning or helping in the kitchen or with the children’s work makes it really enjoyable. And also that the topics are relevant to everyday life and make people sit up and listen.
At Vale Community Church we have a strong emphasis on being community and there are few things better for a community than eating together.
