We have established Nurture Groups to help 'enquirers' and new Christians know more of the basic building blocks of the Christian faith. The aim of the groups is to:
help people grow in their knowledge and love of God;
provide a softly balanced social and study programme;
provide a setting where there will be a priority of questions over answers, a sharing of spiritual experiences and a climate of support and acceptance; and
to look at what Christians believe, how Christians grow and living the Christian life.
The material we have used includes: "Scenes of Life" by John Robertshaw, a series of studies looking at what the Bible says on important life issues all the way from birth through to death; "First Steps" also by John Robertshaw, which aims to lead people step by step to a fuller understanding of what Christians believe and to help them live their lives with God; and "The Big Story" by Mark Powley, which is a manageable way to grasp the story of the BIble by taking a 40-day express tour of the whole Bible.
